The Council of
Registered Gas Installers
Registration No. 19827
To become a C.O.R.G.I.
registered company, the company has to set up systems to manage gas fitters,
supply regular training and ensure the fitters have attained the necessary
qualification to carry out the procedures set.
The gas fitter is authorised
by C.O.R.G.I. to carry out gas works for which they have attained a
qualification. When a gas fitter arrives at a clients premises he has with him
an identification card, which bears his image and on the reverse his
qualifications and date at which these expire. Only in date certified fitters
should work on gas and gas appliances.
When a fitter has finished his
task, he puts certain tests on his work and the services that rely upon the
system, these tests prove safety at which time he may leave the service in use.
Transco is a service company
that provides service pipe work and gas to premises, they do not repair or carry
out installations. When you have a leak or suspect a problem Transco will test
and if found defective will terminate the supply or appliance, provide a list of
registered companies to carry out the repair.
